EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule said on Monday that EU’s reward for Moldova’s efforts to bring their legislation in line with the European Union should be appropriate, namely joining the European Union.<\/p>\n

According to a press release of the Moldovan Government, Stefan Fule said that the Republic of Moldova deserves more, the negotiations over the Association Agreement being relevant this way. He emphasized Art. 49 of the EU Treaty which says that “any European State which respects the principles set out in Article 6(1) may apply to become a member of the Union.”<\/p>\n

The EU official pointed out that such an opportunity should be available for Moldova, as well.<\/p>\n

The statements were made during EU-Moldova Forum that takes place now in Berlin. Up to 150 prominent figures of Europe are expected to join the event. The forum ends today after two-day talks over Moldova’s progress achieved so far, as well as tackling the issue on how to introduce effectively structural reforms bridging the gap between Eastern Partnership countries and the European Union.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
