Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti emphasized his country’s commitment to continue the reforms which will lead in the end to EU membership of the Republic of Moldova. Speaking from the tribune of the Council of Europe on Wednesday, Mr. Timofti said that being part of the European Union, Moldova will develop a better climate for its citizens. Moreover, the country will redound to international security.<\/p>\n

“Our vision is that the Republic of Moldova becomes in the future a fully-fledged member of the European Union, which will ensure a better climate for our citizens and contribute to regional and international efforts for security and a solid ground for trust and prosperity,” Nicolae Timofti said during his speech in Strasbourg.<\/p>\n

The President mentioned that Moldova is making progress in the European integration process. The country currently holds negotiations with the European Union on the Association Agreement. Early in 2012 were launched the negotiations on the creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone, a project that is designed to ease the trade between Moldova and the EU member states.<\/p>\n

“We set jointly with the European Union an intensive agenda of negotiations and will make concerted efforts to meet the established timetable and to achieve the ambitious goal to complete negotiations by the next summit of the Eastern Partnership next year,” Moldovan President stated.<\/p>\n

Nicolae Timofti underlined that Moldova is getting closer to a visa-free travel regime with the EU and that the country waits the EU Council and European Commission decision to switch to the second phase of the dialogue.<\/p>\n

“We appreciate the implementation results of the Mobility Partnership Republic of Moldova-European Union and would like to encourage all Member States of the European Union to join the Partnership in order to strengthen the cooperation in the migration field,” Mr. Timofti added. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
