Eugen Tomac, the adviser of Romanian President Traian Basescu, called on the Romanian citizens in the Republic of Moldova to boycott the referendum on Sunday, July 29th.<\/p>\n

“I call on the Romanian citizens in the Republic of Moldova not to vote, therefore they won’t validate the illegalities of the Social-Liberal Union (SLU) in Romania”, Tomac said during a meeting with Moldovan bloggers.<\/p>\n

The President’s adviser explained why the party decided to boycott the referendum: “We would have participated to the referendum if the rules of the game hadn’t changed from day to day. The members of the SLU behaved as thieves, they pondered their steps beforehand. They even changed the Ombudsman because only he can contest at the Constitutional Court the laws adopted by the Government and Parliament”, Eugen Tomac pointed out.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Acting President of Romania, Crin Antonescu addressed a letter to Romanian citizens in the Republic of Moldova. He encourages Romanian citizens to participate in the referendum if they want to be respected, if they want democracy and rule of law, honor, national dignity and deserved European destiny after so many years of sacrifice.<\/p>\n

It is to note that 14 polling stations will be opened on the territory of the Republic of Moldova for the July 29th referendum. Therefore, the Romanian citizens will be able to vote in Chisinau, Balti, Cahul, Causeni, Hancesti, Ialoveni, Orhei, Nisporeni, Calarasi, Cantemir and Soroca.
