Births carried by mothers surrogate are forbidden in the Republic of Moldova. The Parliament has rejected an amendment of the Reproduction Law which was intended to let surrogate mothers aged 20-40 to give birth for their relatives.<\/p>\n

The amendment provoked controversies within the Liberal and Liberal-Democrat deputies.<\/p>\n

“I don’t think Moldova should be a testing place. Additionally, the church is against of such actions, and the European states are also skeptical regarding the surrogate issue,” Valeriu Giletski, vice-President of the Liberal-Democrat Party said.<\/p>\n

From the other side, the Liberals asked to keep within the law the opportunity to go to surrogate mothers.<\/p>\n

“We should not deprive people from the happiness of becoming parents. When the first organ transplants took place, both the Churches and a significant part of the community were against them, but later they have learnt that such things are being done for their well-being,” Liberal Deputy Gheorghii Brega said.<\/p>\n

After long debates, the article related to surrogates was deleted. The deputies have rejected the Reproduction Law.
