After Dmitry Rogozin was appointed as Russia’s Special Representative to Transnistria, the reactions from Chisinau, Bucharest and Moscow were voiced.<\/p>\n

In a press statement released today by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the authorities say that Dmitry Rogozin will establish a dynamic dialogue with the Moldovan authorities. Mr. Rogozin gibed at statements made by Chisinau saying that he didn’t have time to express himself and the Moldovan authorities bustled.<\/p>\n

A few days ago the Russian Ambassador to Chisinau was called upon by Moldova’s Foreign Ministry to explain the developments on this case.<\/p>\n

Iurie Leanca, the Moldovan Foreign Minister hopes that this step will intensify Russia’s interest in finding a solution to a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Transnistria and no other scenarios will develop.<\/p>\n

The Western neighbors of Moldova also reacted to Rogozin’s appointment. Romania should return to its “security agenda,” writes Romania’s Adevarul daily newspaper. In an analysis published today, Iulian Chifu, an expert in Conflict Studies at National School of Political and Administrative Studies from Bucharest says that “Romania is in a situation in which it has to set the tone and demonstrate to have understood the message by picking up the gauntlet, it should not neglect the gesture of Vladimir Putin who is at the beginning of his new mandate.”<\/p>\n

Romania should have a clear point in order to assure the security at the external border of the European Union and NATO, continued the expert.<\/p>\n

Such measures “are necessary in order our NATO allies, EU partners and the Strategic American Partner to react and intensify their representation, interest and strategic burden in this difficult zone of the globe,” wrote Mr. Chifu, who is also a Presidential Advisor for Strategic Affairs, Security and Foreign Affairs in Bucharest.<\/p>\n

Referring to the upcoming day of the NATO Summit which is due to take place in Chicago, the expert said Romania should develop a diplomatic formula to re-express its strategic interests in order to involve the resources in the new design of the conflict from Nistru.<\/p>\n

Former Moldovan Ambassador to Romania Emil Ciobu (1994-2004) said that the Moldovan statesmen should not ignore Russia.<\/p>\n

“We should co-operate with Russia. And not even turn the back towards Russia as some of our politicians do. The appointment of Rogozin, who’s having a certain reputation and who never makes compromises, shows a lack of trust by Russia for the current administration of Moldova,” said Emil Ciobu, cited by Russia’s Nezavisimaya Gazeta.<\/p>\n

Dmitry Rogozin was appointed Russia’s envoy to Transnistria on March 21, 2012. The so-called Transnistrian Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski welcomed Rogozin’s appointment as Special Representative for Transnistria. Mr. Rogozin was Russia’s envoy to NATO from 2008.
