 “The young generation from my country (Russia) and your country (Romania) doesn’t know too many details about what happens in our countries and are rather guided by stereotypes,” said Oleg Malghinov, the Russian Ambassador to Bucharest in an interview for Romania’s TVH 2.0, cited by Jurnalul National.<\/p>\n

The Ambassador explains that between the two states there is a good level of trade relations and such a dialogue will foster the political dialogue. According to him, the Romanian exports to Russia increased by 20%. Overall, the economic exchanges so far value 4.4 billion US Dollars.<\/p>\n

“Russia is an advanced energetic provider and we want to promote our experience in Romania,” said Mr. Malghinov.<\/p>\n

Being asked to assess the importance of Romania as member of the European Union and NATO for Russia, the Ambassador said that such a perspective is an important priority for Russian Federation.<\/p>\n

Russia’s “relation with NATO isn’t lacked of any problems. This different perspective on security issues or features linked to energy must be discussed. We want to build the relation between Russia, the EU and NATO starting from the idea that we are equal partners, fact which we cannot confirm,” said the Ambassador.<\/p>\n

The Russian official wants Romania’s support in order to get closer to NATO and the EU, and such an expedient will strengthen the bilateral relations between Russia and Romania.<\/p>\n

“This thing will contribute to the stability and security at the European level,” added Mr. Malghinov. “One of the most important features is to build a stable security system. When we are talking about the security system, we refer to the same level of security for all the participants,” explained the Russian representative to Bucharest.<\/p>\n

“There shouldn’t be more security for some countries and less for others, so, if we want to establish an equal security block, we should think of other tools, as well. That’s why we don’t agree with the setting-up of the American anti-missiles defense system in Europe, because it assures the security only for certain countries, and Russia is excluded from this club,” said Oleg Malghinov.<\/p>\n
