The Alliance for European Integration (AEI) found two presidential candidacies. According to Infotag news agency, Veronica Bacalu, the former Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, currently working for World Bank is the candidature elevated by the Liberal Democrat Party. The second one is the ex-Minister of Health Ion Ababii. He was proposed by the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n

A candidate should have the support of at least 61 deputies out of 101 in order to be elected as president. According to the source, the acting president Marian Lupu suggested to hold the presidential election on March 15, 2012.<\/p>\n

Moldovan Prime-Minister Vlad Filat thinks that these candidates are good enough to undertake the president’s responsibilities.
\n"Both Ababii and Bacalu have qualities necessary for becoming a good president," said Mr. Filat.<\/p>\n

The Socialist group of Mr. Dodon set a preliminary condition. According to him, a candidate shouldn’t be a member of any political party.<\/p>\n

The Communist members of the Parliament have been boycotting the Parliament’s plenary sessions ever since the beginning of the Spring-Summer Session, in such a way that they blocked the election of the head of the state.<\/p>\n
