The statement proves that the “Arab spring” has inspired most of the movements against the authoritarian regimes. Despite of this, the number of Free States goes down.<\/p>\n

Moldova’s civil liberties rating improved from 4 to 3 due to a more balanced and diverse media environment, a reduction in government hostility toward civil society groups, and a lack of interference with political gatherings ahead of the November 2010 parliamentary elections, informs Freedom House. According to the source, the numerical ratings and status listed do not reflect conditions in Transnistria, which is examined in a separate report.<\/p>\n

The same document shows that women in Moldova are underrepresented in public life. “A total of 19 women were elected to Parliament in November 2010.
