During his official meeting with the Council of Europe’s Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg, Vlad Filat said that the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe is a very important one in promoting the democratic, human rights and the state of law reforms.<\/p>\n

The Premier thanked Mr. Hammarberg for the support he gave during the investigation of the events of April 7, 2009, when thousands of protesters rallied against the government. Part of it turned violent, tens of people being injured and several dead.
\nMr. Filat stated that the biggest issue of Moldova at the moment is the judicial system.<\/p>\n

“We continue to rely on the Council of Europe’s support regarding the implementation of the necessary reforms in the Republic of Moldova, and switching to the post-modernizing dialogue,” added the Premier.<\/p>\n

Thommas Hammarberg expressed his appreciation towards the Government for its achievements in the field of human rights and told the authorities to continue their efforts in order the citizens to benefit from the European values.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
