Chisinau\/ Moldova.ORG\/ — “The Republic of Moldova is an essential subject on the public agenda of Romania,” said Marius Lazurca, the ambassador of Romania to Chisinau in an interview for HotNews.md.<\/p>\n

According to him, there is no other country in the world besides Romania to have such close relations with the Republic of Moldova. “That’s why, the Republic of Moldova will always be, the way President Traian Basescu said, ‘a soul project’ for us,” added the ambassador.<\/p>\n

Mr. Lazurca assessed the bilateral relations between Moldova and Romania saying that since 2009 we can see a real improvement.<\/p>\n

“As of 2009, the dialogue between Bucharest and Chisinau is intense and productive,” said the Romanian official. He added that “the removal of the barbed wire from Prut or the editing of the “Romanian History” textbooks are symbolic gestures of great intensity. During 2011 there have been developed more than 300 Moldovan-Romanian agencies and factories.”<\/p>\n

Being asked what are Moldova’s perspectives to joining the European Union, the Romanian ambassador told the reporter that one of its chances is [to join] Romania.<\/p>\n

“The Republic of Moldova has, in its own language, the political, judicial and institutional experience gained by Romania while being on its way to join the European Union,” concluded Mr. Lazurca.<\/p>\n

Marius Lazurca is the Romanian ambassador to Moldova since February 2010. The Moldovan-Romanian relations improved after the Communist regime from Chisinau fell in 2009. After that, two general consulates were opened in Moldova – in Balti and in Cahul. Another consulate was opened a year ago in Ungheni.
