By Valeriu Gonta \/ Chisinau \/ Moldova.org \/ — A group of Moldovans, that are currently living in France, protested the deployment of the Russian troops into Moldova’s territory. The protesters rallied in the capital of France yesterday January 8th. The meeting was authorized by the French authorities.<\/p>\n

The occurrence began with a memorial commemorating Vadim Pisari, the 18-year-old teenager who was shot to death by a Russian peacekeeper.<\/a><\/p>\n

The protesters in Paris demanded immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Russian troops and the weaponry from Moldova. This year marks 200 years since Bessarabia was occupied by Russia.<\/p>\n

The people who were present at the meeting have also discussed some of the failures of the Moldovan political system saying that they are unsatisfied by the reforms in the judicial system.<\/p>\n

The event was organized by the Coordination Council of Moldovan Diaspora from France.<\/p>\n

Another protest was organized today, January 9th, in front of the Russian Embassy in Bucharest (video). Over 30 Moldovan students who study in Romania demanded Valeri Kuzmin, the Russian ambassador to Moldova, to resign. The organizers waved the Romanian flag and shouted “Russian army – out!”<\/p>\n

Valeri Kuzmin has previously said that the teenager was drunk and he was driving a stolen car, the information being untested by the ambassador and later on contested. <\/p>\n

The protesters condemned Valeri Kuzmin’s attitude. “We consider the allegations of the Russian ambassador as indecent, insulting to the host country and not according to his diplomatic statute,” said Tudor Cojocaru, the President of Liberal Club for Moldova.<\/p>\n
