By Valeriu Gonta \/ Chisinau \/ Moldova.org \/ — The German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its concern on the incident which took place at the checkpoint in Transnistria, when a Moldovan citizen was deadly shot by a Russian peacekeeper.<\/p>\n

“This incident proves in a tragic way that there is an imperative need to agree upon strengthening the trust between sides and to review the security management in order to assure a free and secure movement of the people within the zone. The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs is convinced that only within the official “5+2 talks” a stable conflict resolution can be made. Germany is ready to continue its support regarding this process,” informs the German Embassy in Chisinau.<\/p>\n

Germany isn’t the only country which expressed its concern upon this case. The United States of America have also expressed their deep regret over the shooting incident. The American government urges the Moldovan and Russian authorities to make sure they will avoid increases in tension and asks for a joint investigation of the case.<\/p>\n

“This incident highlights the need for demilitarization of the security zone to avoid similar occurrences in the future. We join the European Union in confirming our readiness to participate actively in discussions on the demilitarization of the region and the corresponding transformation of the current peacekeeping operations on the Nistru into a mission under the auspices of the OSCE in the context of the Transnistrian conflict settlement,” shows the American official statement.<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
