Elena Vnorovscaia \/ Chi\u015fin\u0103u \/ Moldova.ORG \/ — Moldovans who want to cross the Ukrainian border will no longer be required to show the amount of 1200 euros to enter Ukraine. Earlier this quite a big amount of money was a compulsory condition for Moldavian citizens, who wanted to visit the neighbor country Ukraine, to pass its border.<\/p>\n

But the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and the acting President of Moldova, Marian Lupu, came to the agreement to cancel this uncomfortable for Moldova issue during an official visit to Ukraine on July 9.<\/p>\n

The meeting was held in Crimea, a sub-national unit, an autonomous republic, of Ukraine, where Moldavian Acting President Marian Lupu took a part in the celebration of the Ukrainian president birthday. Viktor Yanukovych is 61 years old now.<\/p>\n

During the official visit the Ukrainian president expressed his satisfaction with the decision of the Republic of Moldova that provides Ukrainian ownership of the part of the highway Odesa – Reni in the area of Palanca.<\/p>\n

This highway connects Odesa, a major seaport located on the northwest shore of the Black Sea and the fourth largest city in Ukraine, and Reni, a small town in the Odessa Oblast (province) of western Ukraine. A railway linking Moldova and Romania passes through Reni, since the city was a part of Romania prior to 1947, when it was claimed by the Soviet Union.<\/p>\n

In its turn Palanca is a commune in \u015etefan Vod\u0103 district, Moldova, near the border with Ukraine. It is the country’s easternmost point. The commune is composed of a single village, Palanca. The crossing point at Palanca have been among the most sensitive areas of the Moldova–Ukraine relations.<\/p>\n

There was a need to complete the demarcation process, but also to deliver on the Republic of Moldova’s commitment to transfer into the property of Ukraine not only the asphalt but also the land area of 7.7 kilometers of road (which is a portion of the 300 km road between Odessa and Reni), and also to clarify the situation with the land, which under the Treaty of 2001, should be transferred into the property of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

"The decision which was accepted is a very important one. For many years, to some extent (this issue) was blocking the relations between Ukraine and Moldova", Yanukovych said.<\/p>\n

Marian Lupu thanked the Ukrainian President for his invitation and mentioned that "today we can announce a serious restart and give a new dynamic and quality of our bilateral relations".<\/p>\n

Recall that acting president of the Republic of Moldova Marian Lupu visited Ukraine also to take a part in Ukraine president’s, Viktor Yanukovych, birthday celebration. Marian Lupu presented Viktor Yanukovych some books.
