Chisinau \/ Moldova.ORG\/ — Fewer days left until the local elections in Moldova. The confrontation is between liberal-democratic parties in office and eager to revenge – the Communist Party. The aim of these elections is the Mayor post in Chisinau, that is treat as a stepping-stone in the big policy. What are the intentions to vote?<\/p>\n

Although the ruling coalition parties failed to identify a common to mayor candidates even in Chisinau, democratic-minded voters turned their preference to candidates with opportunities. Polls show that voters in the capital joined around two candidates for mayor: the liberal Dorin Chirtoac\u0103 and communist Igor Dodon.<\/p>\n

According to the survey “Public Opinion Barometer”, presented yesterday by the Institute for Public Policy (IPP) in Chisinau, if the election will took part this Sunday, Dorin Chirtoaca will earn 39% of the votes and the Communist candidate Dodon 26%. In this conditions, more than two weeks, will be held the second round, and according to analysts, the chances of the two candidates would be almost identical.<\/p>\n

As it regards the national voting intentions, the survey indicates a continuing drop fro the Communist Party. If the last parliamentary elections of November 28, 2010 the communists gained 39.3 percent of the vote, this poll now credits with only 27 percent. Even so, the PCRM will gather the largest share of the electorate because of the non-Communist electoral pool is divided between the Liberal Party (LP), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Democratic Party (PD) and a few extra parties.<\/p>\n

So, according to the survey IPP, at the Sunday elections, the LDP will get 19% of the vote, PL – 13% DP – 11%. In total, the current parties gather in Alliance for European Integration will get at least 43 percent to 27 percent as the Communists would gain.<\/p>\n

IPP survey, which is a landmark in the Republic of Moldova, lifts out some new political trends. In Chisinau, the sociological investigation presents as the trusted leader – the mayor Dorin Chirtoaca. Chirtoaca is beyond even the Prime Minister Filat leading LDP whereas 48% of respondents and 33% – in Filat.<\/p>\n

Nationally, Filat is the politician who enjoys the greatest trust of the electorate, with 37 percent. On the second place stands the current acting President of the Republic of Moldova, Democratic Party leader, Marian Lupu, 34% and the third place share the Liberal Dorin Chirtoaca and Communist Vladimir Voronin, each with 33 percent.<\/p>\n

The survey measured the pro-European option of the Moldovans. So, 64 percent of Moldovans are ready to vote tomorrow for accession to the EU and only 15% would vote against. However, 57% of Moldovans consider that Moldova’s strategic partner must be the Russian Federation, 62 percent advocate for Moldova to become a neutral state in military terms. For the country’s accession to NATO is pronounced only 12 percent of those polled.<\/p>\n
