Prime Minister Vlad Filat chaired a meeting of the governmental commission for Moldova’s reintegration, the government’s communications and press relations department has said.<\/p>\n

This was the first meeting of the commission since its creation on 4 March 2011 by the cabinet decision No 132 from.<\/p>\n

The commission members discussed three basic subjects: the present situation in the Transnistrian conflict settlement; the earlier signed documents in the Transnistrian settlement process and their analysis, as well as aspects of the elaboration of a new strategy for Moldova’s reintegration.<\/p>\n

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov said that the creation of the governmental commission for Moldova’s reintegration stemmed from the need to foster the central public authorities to coordinate more efficiently the actions aimed at promoting the government’s objective set in its 2011-2014 action programme "European Integration: Freedom, Democracy, Welfare".<\/p>\n

The deputy prime minister reiterated the government’s vision on Moldova’s territorial integrity, according to which the country’s reintegration should take place within the limits of the legislative framework in force and the international standards.<\/p>\n

"We speak in favour of settling the Transnistrian problem exclusively by peaceful means, via an open, transparent process of negotiations within the present 5+2 format," Eugen Carpov said.<\/p>\n

The deputy prime minister said that a rather favourable international situation characterized by an increased interest and commitment of the involved partners has been created now.<\/p>\n

Referring to the gradual boosting of the political consultations, Eugen Carpov recalled that five unofficial meetings in the 5+2 format were held in 2010. He also said that a new meeting in the same format took place in Vienna on 14-15 February 2011, with the next one scheduled for 4-5 April.<\/p>\n

"The resumption of the official talks in the 5+2 format remains a fundamental political goal," the deputy prime minister said.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Moldovan government will continue implementing measures to bolster confidence between the two banks of the Dniestre, which have been carried out with the political and financial support of the international partners. Thus, the implemented projects will be meant to drive the residents from both banks of the Dniester closer and to open the Transnistrian society for cooperation with institutions from the right bank of the Dniestre.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that it is important that the carried out actions do not represent a mere providing of humanitarian assistance, but contain a component of the reintegration process.<\/p>\n

"The country’s reintegration has always been an objective of paramount importance for Moldova’s government. We will step up efforts to identify a viable and long-lasting solution to the Transnistrian conflict by observing Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the limits of the internationally recognized borders," the prime minister said.<\/p>\n

Filat asked all the institutions to prove a responsible and active attitude towards the reintegration-related problems. He emphasized the need for the central public authorities to fully involve in the elaboration and implementation of efficient sector policies in this sector.<\/p>\n

The commission decided that a deputy minister, deputy director should be appointed and working groups should be set up in each ministry and central public authority to ensure the fulfillment of the goals that must be met to settle the Transnistrian conflict and the continuity of actions and to keep an archive on the matter.<\/p>\n

These groups will also examine the earlier signed documents on the Transnistrian settlement, present the vision on their topicality, and come out with sector-related proposals for the draft strategy for Moldova’s reintegration in the areas they are responsible for.<\/p>\n
