\nChi\u015fin\u0103u \/ Moldova.ORG\/ — Recently on the 17th of January, during the Conference with the thematic “What Russia wants? What Romania can?”, the French Professor, from the Paris National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations Catherine Durandin, made a analysis of the situation concerning Transnistria region.<\/p>\n

The professor mentioned that Russia comes back to control the basin of Black Sea, benefiting from the very favorable context of the poli-polar and poli-cultural oriented Obama administration.<\/p>\n

Another declaration of the French scientist is that: “Romania is a great regional power, and this is the vocation of this country. Romania pursues an interesting policy on the Central Europe. It has an important role in the Black sea strategy, depends less from the Russian gas then other states in the region, and has a important role in the dialogue EU-Moldova and a dialog (although a difficult one) with Ukraine. Maybe this status of regional power is not felt in this period, because of the crisis, but, objectively speaking, the power of Romania is felt as at a European so at a regional scale, it has all the premises in this sense. ”<\/p>\n

A very interesting conclusion of the expert is that: “Transnistria is one of the dangerous toys that Moscow uses, it is conserved as a bastion of the influence zone from the past. It does not negotiate it with nobody and keeps it as a facade of the ex-USSR.”
