\nPrime Minister Vlad Filat met EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom, who is on an official visit to Moldova, the government’s communications and press relations department has said.<\/p>\n

The two officials discussed Moldova’s European integration and ways to deepen relations with the European Union.<\/p>\n

Cecilia Malmstrom officially presented the Action Plan on the liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union. She emphasized the importance of the document for the Moldova-EU dialogue, especially in the sector of justice and internal affairs.<\/p>\n

The European commissioner welcomed the efforts taken to efficiently implement reforms. Malmstrom highlighted the results achieved by the government so far in order to foster dialogue with the European partners.<\/p>\n

Cecilia Malmstrom said that the Action Plan is divided into chapters: adjustment of the legislative framework in the fields of justice and domestic affairs to the EU norms and standards; implementation of actions necessary to fulfill the EU conditions to set a visa free regime for the Moldovan citizens.<\/p>\n

"This plan is not only a technical document, but also a political one. And the fulfilment of its conditions will help consolidate the democracy in Moldova for the good of all the citizens," the European commissioner said.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Vlad Filat gave assurances that the Moldovan government will meet the conditions stipulated in the Action Plan, noting that, presently, there is political will to carry out the necessary reforms.<\/p>\n

"We are fully aware of the fact that your personal attitude and the European Commission’s commitment are decisive for the impressive development of the Moldova-EU visa dialogue. In this context, I thank you for this interaction. We are also grateful to the EU member states for their favourble position towards Moldova. We will maintain permanent dialogue with the EU institutions and member states, in order to ensure the same support at all the stages of the visa dialogue," the prime minister said.<\/p>\n

Vlad Filat stressed that the government has the ambition to carry out this plan in a reasonable period and in such a way as to meet people’s expectations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
