\nThe parliament passed amendments to the law on government in two readings.<\/p>\n

The draft amending the law on government was put forward by the honorary chairman of the Democratic Party (PD), Dumitru Diacov, and was presented to the MPs by PD lawmaker, Valeriu Lazar.<\/p>\n

Lazar said that the amendments were aimed at strengthening the cabinet’s functionality. "Under the new amendments, the agenda of the government meetings will be approved at the proposal of a presidium, due to be made up of the prime minister and the deputy prime ministers. If one of them is absent, other fully-fledged cabinet members will be delegated. The decisions will be taken by consensus in this presidium."<\/p>\n

The Communists criticized the amendments. They said that the creation of a government presidium proves that the MPs do not trust Prime Minister-designate Vlad Filat, and that there is no confidence between the components of the Alliance for European Integration (AIE). Also, the Communists asked to include the justice minister in the government’s presidium too. Yet, the AIE lawmakers did not back the proposal.<\/p>\n
