\nRelations between Brussels and Tiraspol are far from ideal primarily due to the position of the European Union, which has always had a partial attitude towards Transnistria, its minister of foreign affairs Vladimir Yastrebchak stated at a news conference here.<\/p>\n

In his belief, it is fairly hard to be an advocate to those who use restrictive measures against the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic, such as e.g. a travel ban on the region’s officials. He admitted that the moratorium imposed recently on this ban is certainly a good sign, "but this step is far from enough".<\/p>\n

Vladimir Yastrebchak is quite calm with respect to the euphoria that infected some participants in the Transnistria negotiation process in the result of the so-called ‘football diplomacy’.<\/p>\n

"The diplomacy was undoubtedly a positive factor indicating the appearance of a new approach used by the new leadership of Moldova’s. But so far, we cannot see whatever concrete, tangible fruits, except perhaps a slight de-blocking of railroad communication via Transnistria, but this merit should be attributed not so much to the Moldovan Premier or the football diplomacy", said Yastrebchak.<\/p>\n

Among the few achievements of the negotiation process he named one more extension, by Chisinau, of the moratorium on levying ecological and other duties, whereas Tiraspol has extended for another year the current regime of land using for Moldovan land owners in the villages of the Dubasari Raion.<\/p>\n

The Transnistrian foreign minister does not regard the Chisinau-Tiraspol conflict as something easily soluble, as presume some participants in the negotiation process.<\/p>\n

"Such opinion appears in the result of the position of Moldova itself, which constantly tries to enlist the world community’s support and which believes that the whole world must unite efforts to resolve the Transnistrian conflict – everybody except Moldova itself, which doesn’t lift a finger to work out any solutions – absolutely", said Vladimir Yastrebchak.<\/p>\n

Touching on his latest meeting in the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau with Moldova’s Political Representative at the Transnistria negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Affairs Victor Osipov last Friday, Vladimir Yastrebchak did not even mention that Chisinau had once again demanded to free journalist Ernest Vardanyan.<\/p>\n

Yastrebchak only said that the American side asked to help find the remnants of U.S. pilots and their bomber that perished near Grigoriopol town in Transnistria in 1944.<\/p>\n

"Apparently, the American side means one of its combat airplanes that participated in air raids against the Ploiesti oil fields in Romania, and that used Soviet aerodromes in Ukraine for that purpose, in particular near Poltava city. From its part, the Transnistrian side shall do all in its powers to help find the remnants. So far, however, we dispose of absolutely no information on this issue", said the Transnistrian foreign minister.<\/p>\n
