\nChisinau (Moldova.ORG) –On the 12-th of December, the self-proclaimed regime from Tiraspol, organized elections for the legislative body of the region, The Supreme Council. The actual elections are the fifth from the secessionist war in 1992.<\/p>\n

According to the official Transnistrian authorities 43% of the population of the region participated at the elections. This percentage is by 0.9% lower then the participation at the 2005 elections, according to the official informational agency of the region, Olvia-Press.<\/p>\n

On the territory of Transnistria were opened 259 polling stations, initially 173 candidates deposed their documents for the elections, finally were registered 123 candidates. <\/p>\n

From the 123 candidates according to Olvia-Press, 52 are administrators of juridical entities, 32 – work in the state bodies, 4 – individual businessmen, 5- teachers, 5 – representatives of different professions, 1 – journalist, 4 – pensioners, 8 – representatives of the NGO’s, 12 – without no place of work.<\/p>\n

The president of Transnistrian self-proclaimed republic, Igor Smirnov declared concerning the elections: “I have told about the low presence, about the relatively high importance of the section “against all”. This means that they don’t work enough with the population, don’t explain enough. This means those who are elected must do determined conclusions about the fact that their promises must not be divergent with their deeds.”<\/p>\n

The elections of the Transnistria Supreme council were organized in the same period with the elections of the President of the autonomous region, Gagauz Yeri, and shortly after the Parliamentary elections in Moldova. The President of the Russian Federation Dmitri Medvedev declared earlier that the results of the Moldova elections will be determinant in the solution of the Transnistrian conflict.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
