\nNegotiations between three non-communist parliamentary parties have started and the offer of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) may be changed. The Democratic Party (PD) may initially be given the office of parliament speaker and afterwards run for the one of president. PLDM leader Vlad Filat made statements to this effect after a trilateral meeting with the Liberal Party (PL) and the PD.<\/p>\n

PL and PD leaders Mihai Ghimpu and respectively Marian Lupu showed optimism, stressing that they work to agree on a working model for a four-year mandate.<\/p>\n

Filat said that the today’s meeting with the PL and PD leaders can be seen as the beginning of talks. "The discussions continued and we started the negotiations. At the next meeting, they will advance to the level of discussions on concrete documents," the PLDM leader said.<\/p>\n

Filat added that the leaders also discussed a model of distribution of obligations and responsibilities. "Perhaps, there will be a situation when the PD could initially hold the office of parliament speaker. Subsequently, the PD will put forward its presidential candidate. There was no insistence, it is unfair to discuss through the light of any conditions whatsoever."<\/p>\n

Unlike Filat, Marian Lupu said that consultations and not negotiations took place today. "A string of proposals were made that are to be generalized and submitted for consideration, but we cannot say that they are at the level of negotiations," Lupu said.<\/p>\n

For his part, Mihai Ghimpu displayed optimism, noting that a step towards the creation of an alliance was made today. Yet, it is premature to speak about something specific, he stressed. Ghimpu said that the participants in the meeting did not discuss posts, but specified that the PL is ready to make compromises, and would be contented "with the office of premier." "If somebody thinks that the PL opts for easy posts, we agree with the office of prime minister," he said<\/p>\n

The three leaders said that trilateral meetings will be held further, noting that they did not set an exact date.
