\nMoldova advocated and will further advocate mutual advantageous relations with Russia in all sectors, by doing its utmost in this respect. Moldovan acting President Mihai Ghimpu made this statement during a working meeting with the head of the Russian president s administration, Sergey Naryshkin, who is on a visit to Chisinau, the presidential press service has said.<\/p>\n

The two officials exchanged opinions on Moldovan-Russian relations in all sectors, Moldova’s post-electoral situation, as well as on the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.<\/p>\n

Mihai Ghimpu pointed out that in relations with its foreign partners, Moldova’s leadership has a policy based on mutual respect and Moldova’s national interest. "Referring to European values, we mean the observance of human rights, regardless nationality, and the creation of decent living and working conditions. We will do our utmost to reach these goals," Ghimpu said.<\/p>\n

Referring to the Transnistrian problem, the acting president reiterated Moldovan authorities’ position, that the conflict can be settled more efficiently if Russia withdraws its troops and armament from Moldovan territory. "Russia will only have benefits from the fulfilment of the commitments assumed at the 1999 OSCE summit in Istanbul, both at international level and in the Moldovan society," Ghimpu stressed.<\/p>\n

For his part, the head of the Russian president s administration said that Russia regarded the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict as a very important issue for the regional security, that has to be settled within the framework of the talks.<\/p>\n
