\nWith 91.1 per cent of the votes counted, the Party of Communists has won 41.2 per cent of the ballots cast at the 28 November parliamentary election, according to data unveiled by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).<\/p>\n

The Liberal Democratic Party led by Prime Minister Vlad Filat ranks second with 28 per cent, the Democratic Party ranks third with 13.2 per cent, and acting President Mihai Ghimpu s Liberal Party is in the fourth position with 8.8 per cent.<\/p>\n

The junior party of the former coalition, the Our Moldova Alliance, failed to cross the electoral threshold, receiving 2.1 per cent of the vote.<\/p>\n

According to these preliminary data, the Communists will have 44 out of 101 parliamentary seats, the Liberal Democrats 31 seats, the Democrats 15 seats and the Liberals 11. The former parliament was dissolved as it had failed to gather 61 votes to elect the head of state.<\/p>\n

Data from Chisinau, Criuleni, Hincesti, Dubasari and from 75 polling stations from abroad had not been processed yet. In the polling stations from America and Canada the voting ended several hours ago.<\/p>\n
