\nThe European Union has advised the Republic of Moldova to update and to adjust its legislation on state aid provided to economic agents in conformity with European legislation.<\/p>\n

During the "State Aid Law and Policy – Approximation to EU Standards in Moldova" study presentation on Tuesday, Head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel said Moldova must implement the state aid regulation system as soon as possible and must clearly establish who and on what conditions will be provided with aid by the state.<\/p>\n

"The state aid are any state means provided to economic agents for business development or for starting own business", Schuebel said.<\/p>\n

He said European experts established during the study that there is not a cleared condition about who can have the state aid, and what its amount is.<\/p>\n

"EU Law and Policy in regard to the regulation of state aids is a unique system developed since the 1950s to avoid the negative effects on competition and trade of excessive business subsidization by governments. Moreover, speedy alignment with the EU regulatory system and the fullest compliance with international commitments to do so offers clear benefits to Moldovan businesses (from the standpoint of competition in the marketplace) and to the Moldovan Government (in terms of best practice economic policies and the avoidance of wasteful subsidization). It is also important in regard to the existing and prospective trade relations between the EU and Moldova". Dirk Schuebel said.<\/p>\n

The study is one 16 reference books elaborated by the European experts within the Project "Support for the Implementation of Agreements between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. Its author is Eugene Stuart, adviser in the field of public policies.
