\nAfter the Interim President Mihai Ghimpu addressed a letter to NATO, on the 9th of November, concerning the necessity to retreat the Russian armed forces from Moldova, a series of declarations emerged. The national political forces acted differently, some accusing the actions of the Interim President while others keeping silence concerning them. <\/p>\n

Marian Lupu the leader of the Democratic Party and Valeriu Pasat the leader of the Umanist Party accused Ghimpu, because they believe the letter addressed by the interim president will complicate the peaceful solution of the conflict and the diplomatic discussions.<\/p>\n

The Russian Ambassador in Moldova, Valeri Kuzmin, mentioned in his declarations that the retreating of the armed forces from Moldova is not real, and Mihai Ghimpu does not perceive objectively the situation. Kuzmin declared that the relations between Moldova and Russia are based now only upon declarations and promises. Also he mentioned that Russia observes with pain the political and economical chaos from Moldova, and hopes that the elections will be fair and transparent. The Russian Minister of External Affairs, Mr. Lavrov declared that in the case if Russia will retreat it’s armed forces a new secessionist war will emerge in the region. <\/p>\n

Other reactions came from OSCE and NATO. The problem of frozen conflicts is included on the Agenda and will be discussed at the upcoming OSCE summit in Astana. Also NATO and USA declared that the problem of frozen conflicts will be discussed at the upcoming NATO Lisabon summit. The representatives of NATO and USA declared that this is a issue that interests much NATO and USA.<\/p>\n

In conclusion the declarations of Russia and pro-Russian political forces in Moldova confirm that Russia does not have any interest to retreat it’s armed forces from transnistria. But the letter of Mihai Ghimpu may be the motive why the problems of the frozen conflicts will be included on the agenda and actively discussed at two important international summits in the close future.
