\nPrime Minister Vlad Filat held a news briefing on the results of the visit to Bucharest today, the government’s communications and press relations department has said.<\/p>\n

The prime minister said that the Bucharest Danube Summit was the last high-level meeting before the adoption of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region and an action plan for the strategy’s implementation. The prime minister specified that the participants in the meeting stressed that the Danube region has a very good cooperation potential which should be turned to account.<\/p>\n

Vlad Filat said that he had more bilateral meetings during the visit to Bucharest.<\/p>\n

The prime minister said that, at a meeting with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, the sides exchanged opinions on the actions which Moldova has undertaken to get closer to the European Union and the prospect for the Moldova-EU bilateral relations.<\/p>\n

"We referred to the importance of the process of talks on the EU Association Agreement, as well as other subjects on our agenda regarding the European integration," Vlad Filat stressed.<\/p>\n

The prime minister informed also about his meeting with Romanian President Traian Basescu.<\/p>\n

"I had a very constructive discussion with the Romanian president on the present stage of the bilateral ties and the prospects for developing them. We highlighted the ascendant trend of the bilateral relations in 2010. We discussed also the assistance given by Romania to abolish the floods’ consequences. The Romanian president showed interest in the flood victims’ supply with dwellings. I thanked for the aid provided by the Romanian side to construct the houses for the flood victims, and on this occasion, I said that all the houses will be built by 5 December," Vlad Filat said.<\/p>\n

The prime minister referred also to a meeting with Bulgarian President Boyko Borisov. During the event, the sides tackled subjects on boosting the bilateral relations in many fields, including the one on trade exchanges, continuing measures to ensure the development of the Bulgarian language and culture in Moldova, the need to develop tourism, attract investments.<\/p>\n

Vlad Filat said that another important meeting held on 8 November was the one with Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc. The officials said that pragmatism prevailed in the bilateral ties between Moldova and Romania in 2010, during which no les than 15 agreements were signed.<\/p>\n

"I thanked Prime Minister Boc for the assistance given to alleviate the floods’ consequences – an absolutely necessary help which was offered by the Romanian authorities in time. I invited the Romanian prime minister to pay a visit to Moldova to collect facts on the spot about the flood victims’ provision with houses. I expressed gratitude for Romania’s full support to back Moldova’s European integration. I also agreed with my Romanian counterpart on the need to foster actions to carry out the projects on the energy inter-connection," Vlad Filat said.<\/p>\n

The Moldovan prime minister said that another important moment within the visit to Bucharest was the signing of the treaty on the state border regime, cooperation and mutual assistance on border issues.<\/p>\n

"The signing of this Treaty is a logical finality of the efforts made by both sides, and this proves the pragmatic spirit established between the two countries over the last year. Moldova and Romania signed similar treaties with all the neighbour states, which contain the same juridical norms specific to a treaty on the state border regime," Vlad Filat specified.<\/p>\n

The prime minister added that the Treaty defines the border’s juridical regime, describes the route of the state frontier and the way to establish the latter, defines the way of marking the border on the area, regulates the regime of navigation on rivers, way to manage the frontier waters, bridges and other communication equipments that cross the state border. The Treaty also provides for the setting up and functioning of a joint commission for checking the state border’s route and maintenance of the frontier signs.<\/p>\n

"The Treaty’s signing took place in an atmosphere marked by the one year anniversary of the bilateral relations’ return to normal. There is an atmosphere of openness, based on mutual understanding and trust, constructive character of the European-type relations which have been established in the Chisinau-Bucharest dialogue.
