Prime Minister Vladimir Filat overtly manipulated with his ministers to make them vote for amendments to the Law on the 2010 State Budget without their approval by parliament, maintains Democratic Party Chairman Marian Lupu.<\/p>\n

Lupu told at a briefing today that at the government meeting on Monday, most ministers had no idea what they were voting for. They thought they were giving their conclusion about a draft law to be subsequently adopted by parliamentarians.<\/p>\n

"And only Economy Minister Valeriu Lazar voted against the document, feeling that the Premier was going to assume the Government’s responsibility before the Parliament. Our colleagues from the Government were simply manipulated. The Government has the right to assume responsibility before parliament only in cases when the executive branch comes into contradiction with the legislative branch, but that was not so in this particular case", stressed Marian Lupu.<\/p>\n

Besides all this, he said, that the assistance being projected by the Government is definitely insufficient for needy citizens, and that Premier Filat’s actions are placing in jeopardy the governing alliance and the very institution of parliament.<\/p>\n

"What an unpleasant situation! It may be perceived as a blow on the governing alliance. Our Premier has demonstrated his political egoism and an electoral design", remarked Marian Lupu.<\/p>\n

Acting President Mihai Ghimpu stated, "It’s really a pity this has happened at the very end of our parliamentary mandate. We the four parties have assumed responsibility for governing the country by joint effort. But Filat has decided the Alliance is no more necessary. I don’t really want to believe he is going to ruin the governing coalition, for we all are aware that only the AEI is capable of overcoming the crisis and winning the forthcoming parliamentary elections."<\/p>\n

Speaker Ghimpu announced that the Tuesday’s parliamentary plenary sitting has been cancelled because there is no point meeting after the decision the Filat Government took on Monday.
