Recent discussions about the requirement of the General Prosecution Office (GP) of the R.M. to raise the immunity of the former communist president V. Voronin, provide some evidence that the component parties the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) are more responsible than I may have been thinking before.<\/p>\n

I say „component parties”, because in order to accomplish this action of the GP is necessary to have enough political support, and in this case only the leaders of these parties, of course do not matter sufficiently without due grounds of the parties at large.<\/p>\n

On the other hand we have a situation when we notice more frequently the ticklishness of the Democratic Party (DP), including vis-a-vis this requirement of the prosecution:<\/p>\n

(i) Lupu (the leader of the DP) signs a collaboration agreement with „Edinaia Rossia”,<\/p>\n

(ii) quits the session of the parliament in a way of protest,<\/p>\n

(iii) declares that he wants first to listen to the report of the Legal Commission formed, with regard to request of raising Voronin’s immunity, in order to have a stance, which actually can mean anything.<\/p>\n

Today any informed citizen in the R.M., with integral morality, as well as those from abroad, I think, who followed the way political situation has been evolving here, since both the time of communist governance and after the events of April 2009, agree that the communists of the R.M. committed grave trespasses.<\/p>\n

But the time and honorable people have led to stopping this wrong way of society’s movement, which has also been bad for the future of our children.<\/p>\n

Now the DP has a situation which is not less sensitive than the overall situation of the R.M. They can continue to collaborate in the frame of the AEI, even if they may not like a competitive and pluralist political discourse, sometimes tensed and less agreeable, but honorable, and which keeps their chance in front of the voters as responsible politicians, considerably different from the „Christian-democrats”, or, succumb to temptation by some „bails” of the communists, and shift on the defense side of the latter. In case of such an unhappy manifestation, it will be undoubtedly clear, at least one of the variants below, or a combination of the points as follows, that:<\/p>\n

(i) Marian Lupu has been involved deeper into the trespasses of the communists and events of the April 7, 2009, and that… something is still undisclosed;<\/p>\n

(ii) the DP leader speculates with his stance of „centrist” in order to blackmail the political rightists and give release to Voronin from the penalty that is hovering over him, for other eventual “invisible favors” for the future;<\/p>\n

(iii) Mr. Lupu is himself an unavoidable accomplice of the frauds committed by the communists, about which he prefers to keep mum and, thus, get out „as clean as a whistle”. It would be hard to believe that the communists have not committed even more trespasses beyond those commonly known; it is also commonly known that complicity is associated with infraction.<\/p>\n

No matter which is the situation and\/or options of the DP, there’s something certain – it depends on them the future of their party, because the communists in the R.M. anyway have no sustainable future.<\/p>\n

They do not have any way of withstanding, and even if they do, no more than as a peripheral political formation, as a kind of „ example of bad taste”, once with awareness raising of the Moldovan society, and no least, under the influence of the external factor not in terms of somebody having „big interest” from the west, but rather Moldovan population who has left abroad, to those countries, and who, in line with big economic opportunities\/gains, bring home gains of higher awareness and cognitive development for much of the other population in terms of political-attitudinal skills.<\/p>\n

The communism cannot have a future in a society which strives for modernization, to be based on values and a logical path for development, without violence and demagogies. The recent developments in the R.M. prove this fact.<\/p>\n

We have to believe that the Moldovan population has enough capacities to distinguish between the value of a referendum and importance of parliamentary elections, moreover after this pre-referendum campaign with little or no elementary moral principles, with confusing speculations and intimidations on behalf of the communists.<\/p>\n

We must believe that if somebody admitted intimidation of the population, while wanting to express their will in a referendum, will not manifest the same behavior in the parliament elections and that the Moldovans will make use of the power of ballot wisely.<\/p>\n

Not least, we hope that the DP will display, nevertheless, and will display due intellectual skills compared to Christian Democrat Party of Moldova.<\/p>\n

Should AEI be preserved, the DP will display also a good lesson for the Moldovan society, that in our situation it is crucial to get accustomed live in conditions of pluralism, with all its manifestations, and that the only alternative of the pluralism is dictatorship we could have hardly get over. In a deconcentrated society and government, which was not the case with the communist government, the primary role of law enforcement lies on state institutions, rather than to one single person, as used to be the communist president. Then the probability of law respect is much higher.<\/p>\n

Let’s hope that this is what the DP wish and that they will display this by sense of responsibility rather than populist demarches.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
