The EU’s second fact-collecting mission operating within the dialogue on the liberalization of the visa regime, launched in Luxembourg on 15 June 2010, paid a visit to Moldova on 13-16 September, the media and public relations department of the Foreign and European Integration Ministry has said.<\/p>\n

The mission’s goal was to get acquainted with the Moldovan authorities’ actions to ensure public order and security, as well as international cooperation in the context of the dialogue on the liberalization of the visa regime.<\/p>\n

The EU mission comprised experts of the European Commission and EU member states who met representatives of relevant Moldovan ministries and services. The sides discussed policies of preventing and combating corruption, financial crimes and organized crime, including trafficking of drugs and human beings, cooperation between police and justice, protection of personal data, implementation of instruments and relevant recommendations by the Council of Europe and the UN concerning fight against discrimination, racism and xenophobia, as well as people s free movement.<\/p>\n

We should recall that the first EU fact-collecting mission visited Moldova on 6-9 September to get acquainted with the Moldovan authorities’ actions to ensure the security of documents, to fight illegal migration, to manage border migration and to work out and implement asylum policies.<\/p>\n

Following the visits, the European Commission will work out a report that will identify criteria for liberalizing the visa regime.
