The parliament will be dissolved and early parliamentary elections will be held, the four leaders of the ruling Alliance for European Integration (AIE) said today. They met at the state residence to sign a document on the matter to be submitted to the Constitutional Court.<\/p>\n

The leader of the Liberal Party (PL), Mihai Ghimpu, said that the document signed today will be submitted most likely on 7 September, and during ten days, the Court will announce its ruling on the existence or not of circumstances allowing the dissolution of the current parliament.<\/p>\n

"We will wait for the court’s ruling, after which we will meet again to fix the date of the snap parliamentary polls," Ghimpu said.<\/p>\n

The AIE leaders shunned saying when the early election may take place. They said thatb they would hold consultations with each other, as well the European partners and the parliamentary opposition.<\/p>\n

The four AIE leaders showed skepticism about the openness for dialogue announced by the Party of Communists (PCRM). "I do not trust PCRM’s statements, but we will observe the legal norms and will discuss," the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Vlad Filat, said.<\/p>\n

The leader of the Democratic Party (PD), Marian Lupu, said that the model that will be applied to overcome the present situation should be based on a wider dialogue.<\/p>\n

The AIE leaders listed a string of reasons and circumstances which led to the failure of the referendum, among which the opposition’s aggressive actions, as well as the media’s insufficient informative work. "This is a result which characterizes the entire society, we should not look for the guilty ones," Lupu stressed.<\/p>\n

"The referendum is not only an exercise of the political parties, but also of the entire society, and the outcomes clearly show how we stand," the leader of the Our Moldova Alliance (AMN), Serafim Urecheanu, said.<\/p>\n
