The Central Election Commission (CEC) approved a regulation on the preliminary registration of Moldovan citizens from abroad at a today’s meeting. The regulation sees a possibility to fill in an on-line declaration, informing the CEC about the place of their stay and asking for erasing their names from the list of voters in the election district where they reside.<\/p>\n

CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan said that Moldovans from abroad will be able to start registering 40 days before the referendum day, and the process is to end 25 days before the 5 September referendum. The Central Electoral Commission commits not to provide to third parties the data received from citizens in this way. The CEC needs this data to find out the estimate number of people set to vote outside Moldova.<\/p>\n

At the same meeting, the commission approved a regulation of the procedure of considering and settling inquiries during the election period.<\/p>\n

The CEC also registered the National Liberal Party, the Republican Party and the Green Alliance Environment Party as election contenders in favour of the constitutional referendum due on 5 September. The Patria-Rodina (Motherland) Socialist’ Party was registered too, but it has not expressed its attitude towards the referendum yet.<\/p>\n

So far, the CEC has recorded 13 political formations as participants in the referendum on direct presidential elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
