We have different professions, but we have the same goal of living in a democratic and prosperous state integrated in the big European family, acting President Mihai Ghimpu said today at a ceremony of handing state distinctions to a group of people, the presidential press service has said.<\/p>\n

Addressing the citizens awarded distinctions for their merits and outstanding achievements in their professional lives, Ghimpu said that we would manage to turn Moldova into a democratic, free and prosperous state only by concerted efforts. "Only by consolidating our efforts, we will manage to implement the programmes of modernization that are stipulated in the action programme of the ruling Alliance for European Integration and to attain our primary goal: Moldova s European integration," Ghimpu said.<\/p>\n

A correspondent member of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences, Ion Dediu, decorated with the Order of the Republic, backed the idea that the Moldovan society should be consolidated. He said that only a consolidated society can revive and build a free and bright future.<\/p>\n

A representative of the culture and art centre Ginta Latina, Zinaida Tarna, said that society s support for the alliance s action programme and the authorities policies prove the revival of our society and its wish to live in a free and democratic country that no longer wants to tolerate any totalitarian regimes whatsoever.<\/p>\n

In the context, writer Claudia Patrole, decorated with the medal Mihai Eminescu, said that after the voting on 29 July 2009, every Moldovan citizen deserves being decorated as they were not afraid and voted for freedom, prosperity and the future of this country, leaving the regime that had impeded the state s development back in the past.<\/p>\n

Mihai Ghimpu also awarded the Order of the Republic to the father of late Valeriu Boboc, who was decorated post-mortem as a token of high appreciation and gratitude for his courage in the protection and promotion of the democratic values, as well as for the spirit of sacrifice for freedom and truth during the riots in April 2009.<\/p>\n
