Acting President Mihai Ghimpu today met Bulgarian Deputy Premier and Finance Minister Simeon Deankov, who is on a working visit to Chisinau. The sides discussed bilateral cooperation, the launch of investments projects in Taraclia district and other regions, diversification of the two states’ economic relations as well as other issues of mutual interest, the presidential press service has said.<\/p>\n

Ghimpu noted that the Moldovan-Bulgarian bilateral relations have seen a positive dynamic in all the sectors: political, economic, cultural, etc. This was confirmed by the three-per-cent increase in the foreign trade between the two states in the first four months of 2010 compared with the similar period of the year before.<\/p>\n

Ghimpu and Deancov also discussed the opportunity of launching investment projects in Taraclia district, which is largely populated by Bulgarian ethnics, and in other regions. The Bulgarian official said that his country was considering ways to invest in infrastructure projects in Taraclia districts.<\/p>\n

Referring to cooperation in the education sector, Ghimpu thanked the officials for supporting Bulgarian ethnics in Moldova by assigning 104 scholarships for Bulgaria-based universities in 2010-11.<\/p>\n

Mihai Ghimpu thanked Bulgaria for having backed Moldova in the context of conclusions of the Association Council on 15 June 2010 concerning the launch of negotiations on a comprehensive free trade zone and of talks on the liberalization of the visa regime for Moldovans. In the context, Ghimpu praised Bulgaria’s recent decision to simplify the visa regime starting from 15 June 2010, which will help increase the number of Bulgarian tourists to Moldova.<\/p>\n

Simeon Deancov said that the Bulgarian authorities backed the Moldovan government’s efforts to modernize the country, including during the European integration process, and were willing to provide the necessary support at all the levels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
