The governing Alliance for European Integration will set and announce a referendum date next week, Democratic Party Chairman Marian Lupu stated on the Moldova-1 national television last Monday night.<\/p>\n

He reminded the viewers that the governing coalition has no right to pass a decision on referendum date unless it receives an official conclusion from the Constitutional Court.<\/p>\n

"The referendum bill has been sent to the Constitutional Court for a second time because initially the document was returned to the Parliament for correcting certain technical shortcomings that were successfully removed. Now the Court has 10 days to make its conclusion", said Marian Lupu.<\/p>\n

First Deputy Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Chairman of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (MNA) Serafim Urechean said the governing alliance is now discussing various possible forms of participation in early parliamentary and direct presidential elections. One of such possibilities may appear if the AEI parties stand for elections with one common ticket or in a common voting bloc, with nomination of a common AEI presidential candidate.<\/p>\n

The four AEI leaders have arrived at a conclusion that they need to sign, before the elections, kind of a ‘non-aggression pact’ to ensure a civilized level of political culture during the approaching election campaign.<\/p>\n

Moldova’ Prime Minister and Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat presumes that "even if we stand for parliament as independent runners, it would be only normal to make a preliminary accord, for this should ensure a correct competition and avoid a political slaughter".<\/p>\n

Moldova’s Acting President, Parliament Chairman Mihai Ghimpu voiced confidence that the ‘fractures’ that have appeared in the AEI body following his recent decree on June 28, "will only serve good to our alliance. It is like in a family, when big love is intertwined with some quarrels, after which the spouses’ love gets only stronger".<\/p>\n
