The case of Ernest Vardanean is discussed by the Chisinau authorities. They do their best to release him from detention, Republic of Moldova Government press release on Tuesday, DECA-press informs.<\/p>\n

Chisinau Government condemns journalist Ernest Vardanean’s arrest. It pledges for his immediate and unconditioned release, a press release of the Cabinet of Ministers shows. The Government will continue taking all the necessary measures to solve the problem, the quoted document mentions.<\/p>\n

Since Ernest Vardanean was arrested, the Government got involved in an ongoing process of monitoring, raising awareness and joining the efforts to release the journalist. It also appealed to diplomatic connections.
\nIt is worth mentioning a group of people protested on Tuesday in front of Chisinau Government “against the silence of Prime Minister Vlad Filat in case of journalist Ernest Vardanean”.<\/p>\n

Journalist Ernest Vardanyan was arrested on Wednesday, April 7, in Tiraspol. He used to work for the newspaper „Puls” from Chisinau, a publication supporting PCRM. Vardanean is accused of espionage and betrayal. Vardanyan risks being sent to prison for a term of 12 to 20 years. An illegal Law Court of Tiraspol prolonged his arrest by two more months.<\/p>\n
