Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat has expressed satisfaction with the development of political and economic relations with Russia.<\/p>\n

"After we came to power, we said that we would strive for good relations based on pragmatism, transparency and mutual benefit first of all with the neighbouring countries, including Russia, with which we want to establish strategic partnership relations. I can say with satisfaction that we have partly managed to do this," Filat told Interfax on 14 April.<\/p>\n

"Some problems that existed between Russia and Moldova have been solved and we are working to solve others," he said.<\/p>\n

Filat described Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov’s recent visit to Moldova as very important for the development of bilateral relations.<\/p>\n

"During the meeting, I and Igor Shuvalov discussed a range of important issues: the fulfilment of the earlier reached agreements, including agreements reached d! uring my meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Yalta, the solution of problems faced by Moldovan workers in Russia and organizational problems related to the celebration of 9 May," Filat said.<\/p>\n

"For us, it is very important that our citizens live and work in Moscow in normal conditions," Filat said, noting that he and Shuvalov agreed on the elaboration of an agreement on the situation of migrants.<\/p>\n

Filat spoke in favour of continuing ties with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. "A bilateral meeting is necessary. It may help not only solve the emerged problems but also develop bilateral relations in general. It is not just words. The former meeting with Vladimir Putin and the actions taken after it are a direct proof of this," Filat said.<\/p>\n

In particular, Filat said that Putin contributed to the solution of the so-called "wine problem".<\/p>\n

"Presently, 36 Moldovan wineries are certified to export wine to Russi! a. Most of them are already shipping wine to Russia. Also, additional customs terminals were opened, which significantly simplifies the operation of Moldovan wine exporters," Filat said.
