The ambitious Moldovan Premier, heading the Liberal Democratic Party, is not concealing his intention to take an active-most part in the forthcoming elections. And to guarantee a good result, he has decided to enlist Moscow&#8217;s support. Heretofore, only the Communists, headed by ex-president of Moldova Vladimir Voronin, could boast of being friends with Russia&quot;, Kommersant wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper presumes the Communists hope for taking a revenge for their defeat in the 2009 parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;By using their devoted mass media, the Communist Party has done everything to portray Filat and his Liberal Democrats, as well as the ruling Alliance for European Integration, as pro-Romania and anti-Russia nationalist forces&quot;, Kommersant said<\/p>\n<p>According to it, &quot;Voronin has many a time asked Moscow&#8217;s support, trying to get Russia&#8217;s help in his struggle against his liberal opponents. Acting so, the MCP leader occasionally resorted to quite radical measures &#8211; up to direst requesting the Russian government to provide no financial assistance to the new ruling regime in Chisinau. Accidentally or not, but Moscow has eventually changed its mind, and is no more going to furnish the US$500 million credit Vladimir Putin promised to Moldova in June 2009, when the chief Moldovan communist was President of Moldova yet&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>Kommersant was told at the Shuvalov&#8217;s office that the credit question would not be raised during the March 31 negotiations in Chisinau.<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper presumes that lately the opponents to Voronin seem to have intercepted the lead in their competition for Moscow&#8217;s favor. Last week, the Moldovan Parliament ratified the Concept of the Further Development of the CIS, which Chisinau signed yet in 2007, when Voronin was the republic&#8217;s all-mighty ruler and when the Communists fully dominated in the Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Despite all that, the Concept was not ratified then. And even last Thursday, when the ratification question was debated in the Moldovan Parliament, the Communists demonstratively refused to participate in the discussion.
