The day of 2 March will be named Memory Day – the day of commemoration of those who died in the 1991-1992 war for the defence of Moldova’s integrity and independence and the victims of this conflict.<\/p>\n

The parliament today adopted a decision to this effect with the votes of 52 MPs of the majority coalition. The lawmakers of the Party of Communists (PCRM) did not agree with the formulation of the name of this day and did not vote.<\/p>\n

On 2 March, the day when the Dniestre war began, the participants in this conflict along with the central and local public authorities traditionally organise actions of commemorating the heroes of this war.<\/p>\n

An informative note of the decision says that the heroes of this war wrote a separate page in Moldova’s history, which represents a true school of life for the young generation, which is to take over the work of edifying a unitary and democratic state. About 29,000 people participated in the 1991-92 war, of whom 800 died and another 284 ones remained invalids of the first and second degrees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
