British and U.S. experts in the defense and security reform sphere have come for a three-day visit to Chisinau to help the Republic of Moldova carry out Strategic Defense Research (SDR).<\/p>\n

The experts held meetings with Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta, senior officers of defense structures and the National Army General Headquarters, and discussed with them resumption of work within the SDR frame to approve the National Security Strategy and the Report on assessing military risks and threats to national security.<\/p>\n

It was pointed out at the meetings that the work’s first two stages have been successfully accomplished, and the third stage is aimed to develop the future structure of the armed forces and of the potential necessary for the national defense system. The armed forces’ new structure will be worked out with an account of risks and hazards for national security as well as missions and tasks set to the defense system.<\/p>\n

The Strategic Defense Research was launched in 2007 with setting up the State SDR Commission. In its frame, four expert groups were formed. The first one, “Strategic Context”, is run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the second one, “Defense System”, – by the General Headquarters, the third group, ”Defense Resources”, – by the Ministry of Defense namely its Finance and Economic Department, and the 4th group, “Defense Management”, is under the responsibility of the Ministry’s Defense Policy and Planning Department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
