On Friday, Feb. 12, Prime Minister Vlad Filat has had a meeting with officials of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), the government’s press service has said.<\/p>\n

Participating in the meeting were the new-appointed EUBAM head, Udo Burkholder, the head of the EU Delegation, Dirk Schuebel, and the political adviser of the EU Special Representative, Mindaugas Kacerauskis.<\/p>\n

The officials discussed the operation of EUBAM, pointing out the importance of the recently opened Chisinau office of the mission and the extension of the mission’s mandate until November 2011. The sides also discussed proposals aimed at bolstering confidence between the two banks of the Dniester River.<\/p>\n

Vlad Filat welcomed the appointment of the new EUBAM head and noted that it was important to correctly approach actions and decisions aimed at settling the Transnistrian conflict.<\/a><\/p>\n

"Moldova’s integration is a priority for us, but this should not take place to the detriment of other priorities, including economic functionality," Filat said.<\/p>\n

The prime minister said that the government would not approve actions differentiating between the enterprises from the left and right banks of the Dniester River. He said that the government would thoroughly consider all aspects, in particular the economic one, in order to ensure clear administration mechanisms and equal working conditions for every citizen.<\/p>\n

Filat also talked about the government’s actions in talks on a liberalized visa regime with the EU. In the context, he asked for EUBAM’s expertise of the border dimension and internal processes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
