Lithuania is willing to support the Republic of Moldova in negotiations with the European Union on the Association Agreement, going beyond the current Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The document envisages that the parties will establish a new institutional mechanism for enhanced political dialogue on the European Integration issues. The meetings of a Bilateral European Integration Commission will be headed on a rotation basis by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs in respective capitals twice per year. Representatives from other institutions will be invited to those meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Lithuania will be encouraging the Republic of Moldova to make maximum use of the Eastern Partnership Comprehensive Institution Building Program (CIBP), as well as European Union&rsquo;s Technical Assistance Information Exchange Unit (TAIEX) and Twinning instruments involving Lithuanian officials from the relevant institutions in the field of European Integration.<\/p>\n<p>The parties have agreed upon holding regular consultations in view of Lithuania&rsquo;s preparations for the chairmanship of the OSCE in 2011 and the presidency of the EU in 2013. The parties will prepare proposals to strengthen consultations and coordination between them in the above context.<\/p>\n<p>Lithuania reiterated its respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders. The parties encourage all participants to make efforts to reconvene the 5+2 format emphasizing the viable and sustainable solution of Transnistrian conflict which can be reached only in the aforementioned format of negotiations. Lithuania supports confidence building between both Dniester banks mediated by the OSCE and the EU, as well as other participants.<\/p>\n<p>Moldova and Lithuania have agreed to continue organizing joint events, such as consultations, seminars, round-tables, study visits, training courses in the field of European Integration. They have decided also to intensify bilateral cooperation in the field of trade and investment. For this aim, the parties will explore the possibility of organizing business missions in consultation with the relevant partners and organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Filat perceived his Lithuanian colleague&rsquo;s visit and the Joint Declaration signature as a message of support for Moldova on its path to European integration and society reform.<\/p>\n<p>Premier Kubilius assured that Lithuania will be doing all in its powers to help Moldova on its way to European integration, particularly at negotiations on the Association Agreement, on visa regime liberalization, and on free trade with the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Andrius Kubilius stressed Moldova was, is and shall be a European country.
