Vlad Filat, Chiarman of the Liberal Democratic Party (Prime Minister of Moldova)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The year 2009 was a new beginning both for our party and for the Republic of Moldova. The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) shifted from opposition to government and our country released itself from a regime that was too far away from people s real needs, PLDM leader Vlad Filat has told MOLDPRES.<\/p>\n

Filat said that political evolutions in 2009 were to a great extent determined by and shaped on the PLDM’s performance. "We were active, energetic, we kept the pace with the events, we completely involved in the political life and we managed. People appreciated us for our resoluteness and the professionalism of our team," Filat said.<\/p>\n

Vlad Filat said that already in 2010 Moldovans will start feeling the difference between what happened to them in the past eight years and what the new government will offer.<\/p>\n

"We have an ambitious government programme and I am sure that we will meet the deadlines set for each objective. This means that we will take specific and quick steps to modernize the country, to ensure the functionality of democratic institutions, people’s free movement and real opportunities for every citizen to show their value at professional or business levels and to enjoy more social safety," Filat added.<\/p>\n

\nMihai Ghimpu, Chairman of the Liberal Party (acting Moldova’s president, Speaker of the Parliament)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The year 2009 was good for the Liberal Party and it was even better for Moldova’s citizens as it brought about the change they awaited so long, the leader of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu, has said.<\/p>\n

Ghimpu said that for him and his party 2009 was not a year of surprises. "We worked hard over the last years and we were waiting for results," he said.<\/p>\n

Ghimpu said that in 2010, the Liberal Party sees itself young and beautiful and as hard working and energetic as before.<\/p>\n

"This is all that a party should have to bring about justice and truth on the land of our ancestors. There are many prospects and we are working to fulfil all the planned activities," Ghimpu said.<\/p>\n

He added that in 2010 both his party and the ruling Alliance for European Integration will work hard to achieve the set objectives.<\/p>\n


\nMarian Lupu, Chairman of the Democratic Party <\/strong><\/p>\n

To the Democratic Party, 2009 was an important year as the party resumed political activity and became again a parliamentary formation, the leader of the Democratic Party (PD), Marian Lupu, has told MOLDPRES.<\/p>\n

Lupu said that in political and economic terms, 2009 was a difficult year both for Moldova and the PD.<\/p>\n

"Economic recession and political crisis marked and unfortunately continue to mark the country. The past year and the current one required and still require much responsibility and mobilization from political actors who should give in their personal and party interests and assume responsibility for what is going to happen in this country," Lupu said.<\/p>\n

Lupu said that 2010 gives very good chances to the PD to extend its positions on the left wing of the political stage and to become an important Social Democratic force.<\/p>\n

"Obviously, in 2010, the entire PD team will focus its activity on this direction and this goal can be achieved only if the party meets the obligations it assumed towards voters," Lupu said.<\/p>\n

Lupu said that if a snap election is held, the PD will run for parliament on its own, which is absolutely normal for any serious party. "Obviously, if we have allies who would like to cooperate one way or another, the door is open," Lupu added.<\/p>\n

\nSerafim Urechaen, Chairman of the Our Moldova Alliance<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moldova’s ruling Alliance for European Integration will make progress on the European integration path in 2010, Serafim Urechean, the leader of the junior coalition party Our Moldova Alliance, has told MOLDPRES.<\/p>\n

Urechean specified that the four leaders of the ruling coalition are aware of the fact that stability in Moldova depends on their behaviour. "I do not believe that any of us may be so simplistic as to tarnish the political image of the four parties making up the Alliance for European Integration, therefore we will certainly make progress in terms of European integration," Urechean said.<\/p>\n

Seraphim Urechean recalled that negotiations on an association agreement with the EU would start on 12 January, after which the government would be recommended to submit an application of accession to the EU. Urechean also said that the alliance "will work hard to obtain a liberalized visa regime with the EU".<\/p>\n

He noted that while in opposition in 2005-09, his party repeatedly offered to submit an application on accession to the EU but the then ruling Party of Communists defied the proposal. In this respect, he said that the passage of the Party of Communists into opposition was one of the positive moments that marked the year 2009.<\/p>\n

Referring to the situation in his party, Urechean said that the Our Moldova Alliance will step up its positions as it has all that it needs to enhance its efficiency. "We have about 2,500 local councilors, 14 heads of districts and over 200 mayors and we will work more and the AMN will enter the next parliaments too," Urechean concluded.<\/p>\n
