It is time to shift from pompous statements to specific deeds in the Moldovan-Russian relations, Moldovan Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat has said.<\/p>\n

"When it comes to the development of our relations with Russia, it is necessary to shift from pompous statements to specific deeds, from formal commitments, which have prevailed so far, to responsible partnership relations," he said in an interview with Interfax on Oct. 20.<\/p>\n

Filat said "these relations are very important to us and I speak in favour of approaching them as seriously and responsibly as possible". "We should proceed from the principle of strategic partnership which is stipulated in the Moldovan-Russian basic political treaty," Filat said.<\/p>\n

He said that "during his recent meetings with representatives of the Russian government and presidential administration he stated clearly that we are ready to discuss the problems bothering us insistently and for a long time, as well as to listen to and take into account all opinions and interests".<\/p>\n

"But if we reach agreements, we will clearly fulfil them and not as it happened so far. We will be pragmatic, but predictable and consistent partners, we will proceed from the interests of our countries’ citizens," Filat concluded.
