Heads of Moldova’s raions hope for close cooperation with the Government for the best governance on the local level, they said this on Tuesday in the course of their meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat.<\/p>\n

Chairman of the Cahul raion Ghorghe Vasilache welcomed the Prime Minister’s intention to meet the raion heads, in order to clear up problems, the local public administration faces, and to search for ways for overcoming them.<\/p>\n

"The governance implies the responsibility of each person, but it is impossible to solve many problems without cooperation with the central authorities. We should put aside politics and manifest responsibility to the voters, who elected us. We hope also for the ministers’ big openness in cooperation with us", Vasilache remarked. .<\/p>\n

The raion heads also said that they received 20% less assignments from the central budget against the target.<\/p>\n

"Under such conditions, it is difficult to overcome the situation and to cover expenditures for the education and health protection", Chairman of the Besarabeasca raion Ilie Cernautan said.<\/p>\n

Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca remarked, as the previous authorities left the state treasury empty, it is necessary to implement reforms on all the levels and this matter calls for a number of unpopular measures.<\/p>\n

The Chisinau Mayor also said that, in accordance with the European practices, the raion authorities must take decisions on the local level independently and added that the granting of the local autonomy and its decent financing may revive the situation on the spots. Premier Vlad Filat promised not to make any difference between the raion Chairmen depending on their affiliation.<\/p>\n

"A lot of problems have been accumulated, However, we shall be able to solve them by joint efforts. It is important to act in a strict accordance with the Law", Filat remarked. He said that from now the local authorities have a free hand in receiving foreign funds for the development of their localities.<\/p>\n
