Moldova’s Constitutional Court Chairman Dumitru Pulbere is convinced nobody can put whatever pressure or influence on CC Judges while their considering the results of the July 29 parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n

He said in an interview with the Banking & Finance magazine (Moldova) that the Constitutional Court is a body of six judges having a vast professional and life experience.<\/p>\n

"All of them have been working in judiciary organs for over 20 years, so no pressure can prevent them from taking a legitimate, constitutional decision. Furthermore, the Constitutional Court has worked out a certain work practice. Remember the early parliamentary elections in 2001? Then, we passed quite a few essential decisions concerning the polls. We use those and other Constitutional Court decisions in our activity, along with valuable international experience. When we tackle questions in the Court, we abide by the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, and we certainly abide by relevant international documents. We constantly study other states’ experience. All this leads to adopting a document, a Conclusion, by means of which we recognize the legitimacy of elections, and then pass a decision on approving mandates of deputies.<\/p>\n

Dumitru Pulbere stressed that no pressure was put on the Court during its considering the April 5 parliamentary election results, and that "I regard all such insinuations and provocations as an interference into the Constitutional Court’s work and as attempts to press on CC Judges".<\/p>\n

In his words, after April 5 the Court did not examine the evidence presented by the opposition concerning election rigging "because those were not legal evidence drawn up and presented in a proper form as is demanded by law. Those were wastepaper".<\/p>\n

And now, too, the Constitutional Court will act in the same manner – will consider only sound arguments, should any political party decide to challenge the election results, stated Constitutional Court Chairman Dumitru Pulbere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
