The leader of the opposition Our Moldova Alliance (AMN), Serafim Urechean, has expressed confidence that his party would create a ruling coalition with the Liberal Party and the Liberal Democratic Party after the 29 July snap parliamentary election.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a news conference today, Urechean denied reports about the three parties reaching an agreement to participate in the forthcoming election on a single electoral list.<\/p>\n

"I do not deem this necessary. But if such a decision is taken, then you will be the first to know about it," Urechean stated.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he denied rumours that he would oppose the compilation of such a list.<\/p>\n

"The AMN has over 30,000 members, 760 local branches, 2,500 councillors in village and district councils, 200 mayors and 14 heads of districts. Like the other two opposition parties, we are participating in the election on our own, but we are coordinating our actions and after the election we! will set up a coalition," Urechean stated.<\/p>\n

At the 5 April parliamentary election, the AMN gained 9.75 per cent of the vote, the Liberal Party 13.13 per cent, the Liberal Democratic Party 12.43 per cent and the ruling Communist Party 49.48 per cent. Moldova is due to hold an early election on 29 July after MPs elected on 5 April failed to elect the president.
