Iurie Rosca, who was appointed as deputy prime minister by a presidential decree on 16 June, today was introduced to the government by acting President Vladimir Voronin. Rosca will deal with issues of combating corruption, human trafficking, human rights’ observance, maintaining the public order, etc. Valentin Mejinschi has earlier held this office. <\/p>\n

President Vladimir Voronin said that Iurie Rosca’s appointment as deputy prime minister proves that there is not monopoly of power in Moldova, and anybody can be advanced in post, depending on the contribution brought to the country’s development. The head of state stressed that, over the last years, the relations between Iurie Rosca and the ruling party have been different. In 2005, Moldova managed to overcome one of the most difficult political crisis due to Rosca’s courage and attachment to the country. Voronin said that he proposed that a wide coalition should be created with the political actors from the dissolved parliament. They rejected the offer however, and this led to the early election. <\/p>\n

At the today’s meeting, the president handed two IDs of general to the first deputy speaker of the parliament of the 17th convocation, Vladimir Turcan, and the director of the Centre for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption, Sergiu Burduja.
