Prominent Romanian publicist Gheorghe Scarlat presumes that unification with Romania is the only way out for the Republic of Moldova at the present stage.<\/p>\n

He wrote in his article published in the Ziua [Day] newspaper of Bucharest that the Moldovan Communists may well lose the early parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n

Scarlat stressed Russians are giving signs they dislike the perspective of losing their international image if the party they back will fail at the elections. Many Russian analysts and journalists are pessimistic about the MCP’s electoral chances. Also, the United States spoke out negatively against the Communist Party by means of the letter sent to Chisinau recently by Hilary Clinton and of the Report prepared by the U.S. Department of State, which fingered at instances of beating and maltreatment of detained protesters and at blocking discussions with the IMF at the climax of an economic crisis in Moldova.<\/p>\n

In his words, the Moldovan Communist Party began falling apart after Marian Lupu had quitted it, and after Vladimir Turcan, a former Soviet militia officer, had disclosed the staging of the April 7 events by the Communists.<\/p>\n

Proceeding from these assumptions, Gheorghe Scarlat suggests that the only future for Bessarabia is to get united with Romania.<\/p>\n

“Opposition parties [in Moldova], who call themselves pro-Romanian ones, ignore such perspective. In their programs, they write about the republic’s independence and sovereignty, and not a single word about the unification [with Romania]. But everyone talks about a “re-unification” with Transnistria. But Moldova lost Transnistria yet in 1992, and Russia will never surrender this territory”, presumes the Romanian publicist.<\/p>\n

In his opinion, the idea to see Moldova and Transnistria integrated into the European Union is but a utopia, and solution of the Transnistria conflict may take infinitely long, like in the case with Cyprus.<\/p>\n

Scarlat further wrote that Tiraspol welcomes the idea of Bessarabia’s unification with Romania, for in such case the breakaway region will have no obstacles to declaring its independence.<\/p>\n

Concerning the unification with Romania, Scarlat presumes it is necessary to give the Communists (Oleg Voronin and the rest red billionaires) firm guarantees that nobody will take away their money.<\/p>\n
