Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin today signed a decree to nominate Zinaida Grecianii for the post of prime minister.<\/p>\n

Grecianii is to present the nominal list of the Cabinet of Ministers and the government s activity programme at the 10 June 2009 parliamentary meeting.<\/p>\n

Zinaida Grecianii was born in the Tomsk region, Russia, on 7 February 1956 [in a family of deported Moldovans].<\/p>\n

She graduated from the Chisinau-based Financial and Economic College and the State University of Moldova. Starting from 1974 till 1991 Grecianii worked as senior accountant, senior inspector, reviser, head of the budgetary section of the Briceni-based financial department.<\/p>\n

In 1991-94, Grecianii worked as head of the budgetary section – deputy head of the Briceni-based economic and financial department, acting deputy head of the Briceni district executive committee, acting head of the district financial and economic department.<\/p>\n

Starting from 1994 till 1996, she was the deputy head of the directorate general for budget elaboration and analysis, head of the section of local budgets and the budget department at the Finance Ministry. In 1996-2000, Grecianii acted as head of the directorate general for the budget elaboration and synthesis, director of the budget department.<\/p>\n

She worked as deputy finance minister in 2000-2001, and first deputy finance minister in 2001-2002.<\/p>\n

On 8 February 2002, under a decree by the Moldovan president, Grecianii was appointed as acting finance minister, and on 26 February 2002 as finance minister.<\/p>\n

She was appointed as finance minister on 19 April 2005, on the basis of a confidence vote given by the parliament, under a presidential decree. On 10 October 2005, Grecianii was appointed as first deputy prime minister, under a decree by the Moldovan president.<\/p>\n

On 31 March 2008, Zinaida Grecianii was elected prime minister, on the basis of a vote of confidence given by the parliament. She held this post till 2009.<\/p>\n
