At the moment a final decision has not been taken, and discussions have only just begun, so it would be wrong to just slap [their] hands straight away and make accusations of unlawfulness,&quot; a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry told Interfax on Monday, June 1.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, &quot;we have to view this very carefully, with certain tact&quot;. &quot;When people demonstrate their affinity towards Russia, you can&#8217;t react so harshly and call it all unlawful. You need to look into it, especially as they are not breaking any of our laws,&quot; stressed the source.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that &quot;the Dniester region is keeping its flag, the! y are not replacing it with the Russian one, but are just allowing the Russian tricolour to be used, including on state institutions&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;If you read the draft resolution (from parliament), then it becomes clear that the Dniester region residents just want to feel linked with Russia. Not only should this not be punished, but it should be regarded with sympathy and benevolently,&quot; thinks the diplomat.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, &quot;in the centre of Chisinau the Moldovan flag and the European Union flag both fly over the mayor&#8217;s office, and nobody makes a scandal out of that.&quot; &quot;Therefore I would not demonize this situation.
